A pine-country fly-in community on the Mogollon Rim, where elevation is the whole story.
Mogollon Airpark, Overgaard (Updated Q4 2026)

I'm Clayton Wolfe, a commercially rated pilot and Partner at The Agency in Scottsdale. Mogollon Airpark is a high-country fly-in community at Overgaard, up on the Rim in the pines, a cool-summer escape from the Valley heat.
The defining fact here is elevation. At over 6,600 feet, this is a high field, and density altitude governs what you can fly and when. The runway is shorter and narrower than the metro strips, with trees at both ends. For the statewide picture, see Arizona's most expensive airpark homes.

Density altitude, the main planning factor. At about 6,652 feet, Mogollon is a true high-altitude field. On a warm summer day the density altitude can exceed 9,000 feet, which sharply cuts takeoff performance and climb. A 3,420-foot runway with trees at both ends leaves little margin for an underpowered or heavily loaded aircraft. This field rewards a current pilot who runs real performance numbers; it punishes one who does not.
Taxiway, hangar, and HOA rules. Mogollon is a through-the-fence community with taxiway access and hangar homes. The HOA governs operations on a non-towered mountain field. Request current documents before offering, and pay attention to the based-aircraft mix; it tells you what realistically operates here given the elevation.
Fuel, lots, and hangars. Confirm current on-field fuel before basing here; high-country strips often have none, and the nearest fuel may be a flight away over terrain. Lots are pine-shaded and pair a home with a hangar; size the hangar to an aircraft that performs at this elevation.
Mogollon is the Valley pilot's summer escape, and I love it for that. But I am honest with buyers: this is a high, short, tree-lined field, and it demands respect.
Fly a well-powered airplane, run your density-altitude numbers every departure, and plan your fuel. For a current pilot with the right aircraft, a pine-country hangar home up here is a special thing; for the wrong aircraft, it is a field you will rarely use in July. I speak to this as a commercially rated pilot who can walk the field with you, not as an aviation-service provider; I sell real estate and do not operate flights, charters, or aircraft sales.
Short answers to the questions I hear most. Each one is covered in more depth above.

No. It is a private, through-the-fence residential airpark with no public access. The runway serves residents and their based aircraft.
