Aviation

Clayton is a commercially rated pilot and flight instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI) with more than 2,000 hours over 15 years. He currently flies a Cirrus SR22T and has access to a Cirrus SF50 and a Pilatus PC-12 NGX. Aviation is the basis of his airpark and hangar-home practice. When a pilot calls about a property, the conversation starts in their terms on the first call: runway length and surface, approaches, hangar door clearance, taxiway rights, and fuel. Clayton evaluates each of these firsthand. When timing matters, he can arrange charter flights for clients through his relationships with certificated Part 135 charter operators. Flights are operated by independent, FAA-certificated carriers; Clayton provides real estate services only.

Clayton is actively pursuing the Explorers Grand Slam

Global Mountaineer

Clayton is pursuing the Explorers Grand Slam, which fewer than 100 people have completed. The challenge requires climbing the Seven Summits, the highest peak on each continent, and skiing to both the North and South Poles.

In July 2025, Clayton completed the Seven Summits, joining a small group of climbers worldwide to have stood on the highest point of every continent. The journey included his summit of Mt. Everest on May 12, 2022 at 6:45 a.m. With the Seven Summits behind him, Clayton's focus now turns to the polar expeditions required to complete the Grand Slam.

Clayton serves on the board of Saguaro Children's Charities

Community

Clayton has served on the board of Saguaros Children's Charities since 2021, including terms as Foundation Treasurer and Olympiad Chairman. The organization's 50 members raise about $2 million a year for Arizona children's charities. He helped draft and pass the legislation behind Arizona's first blackout license plate, which has generated more than $700,000 for children's causes to date. Altogether, Clayton has helped raise more than $400,000 to date for Saguaros Children's Charities.
